16.09.202612:30:00UTC+00U.S. Export Price Inflation Edges Higher in August, Extending Upward Momentum

The U.S. Export Price Index rose 8.6% year-over-year in August 2026, slightly above the 8.2% annual increase recorded in July, according to data updated on 16 September 2026. The indicator measures how the prices of U.S. goods sold abroad have changed compared with the same month a year earlier.

The latest reading marks a continuation of rising export price inflation, with August showing a modest acceleration from July on a year-over-year basis. The “previous” figure reflects the change in July 2026 compared with July 2025, while the “actual” August 2026 figure is measured against August 2025.

The firming in export prices suggests U.S. exporters are facing higher pricing levels than a year ago, which can influence trade competitiveness, foreign demand, and profit margins across sectors exposed to global markets.
